Tyrrell’s NAKED crisps. Just so we all know what we are discussing here, in the UK crisps are what Americans call chips. Thinly sliced potatoes that is deep fried until it is crispy. Hence the name “Crisps”. What Americans call chips are French Fries in the UK. If you ask a French person what French Fries are they are likely to say “Je ne sais pas” because in France they are pommes frites.
So now that’s perfectly clear let’s talk about Naked Crisps.
Tyrell use the term naked partly because of the double entendre but mostly because the crisps are not salted or flavoured.
These packets of crisps are openly on sale in UK shops, they are just on the shelf, the nudes on the packet on full view. This may surprise our American friends, but if you think that’s odd go to France, nudes are widely used in advertising.
