I have been working on a blogpost for a while, with the theme of “Nude or Rude” or “Naturist or Sexual?” Except I wasn’t doing very well, somehow I couldn’t explain what I was thinking.
Then Nancy, as in Nancy Just Naturism, publish a picture on Bluesky with a question:
“What’s your take on this picture, do you find it sexy or funny? And why? I’m curious to hear your perspective as a nudist.”
You can see the Bluesky post here: https://bsky.app/profile/nancyjustnaturism.bsky.social/post/3ld7bv2aj2c2r
She got quite a few replies, as one would expect. The consensus was that the picture was playful or funny, not really sexy. In my opinion it is not a naturist picture, but it’s not outright sexual. So I suppose I concur, it’s somewhere in between. In the green area in my Venn diagram.
However, this does not answer my question, the reason I went down this rabbit hole in the first instance. Where does naturism end and sexual or erotic start? Is it in the eye of the beholder? Can we as naturists draw a definitive line between naturist and erotic?
I don’t think it is possible. What I see and what someone else sees is different. I live in a naturist community, I am desensitised to nudity. Almost anyone else will see and think differently to me.
Moving along, the next question that I don’t have an answer for is what can naturists do about sexualisation of naturism, because there will be people who are here for the wrong (to us naturists) reasons.
There are a lot of people online attempting to make being nude normal, to educate textiles (I hate that expression and I don’t know why) about naturism and act as a recruitment service to get more people into naturism. However I have seen the same ideas and opinions circulating round for decades. Naturists chase their bare butts around in circles, and we don’t get anywhere.
The question I really want answered is what turned you from a textile into a naturist? Whatever that was, if it triggered you, perhaps we can use it to trigger others.
Our contact page is here if you would care to share your thoughts. I will do a follow up post with the replies.
